What's Busk Stop then?

Drink in Brighton & Brugal are bringing you a new way to enjoy music in our pubs. Looking to break down the usual rituals of watching live music, we have invited some of the town’s best musicians to busk in some of the town’s best pubs. The result will be impromptu performances in pubs across the city with performers setting up in the corner of your favourite local!

Musicians who have registered in the free-to-join project will be able to busk in the pubs at any point of the day. The musicians will be allowed to keep all of the money that they earn from their performance and can play as often or as little as they like, with no limit on the amount of performances per day.

We are currently finalising the participating pubs and are on the look out for more musicians. If you wish to take part, please email me; andy(at)drinkinbrighton(dot)co(dot)uk

So far we have two pubs confirmed, with many more due in the next few weeks. The first two are...

Thomas Kemp
8 St Georges Road
Brighton
East Sussex
BN2 1EB

The Thomas Kemp boasts a rather different character to most pubs, with old maps on the wall and even a full suit of armour in the corner. There's a sun-trap beer garden to the rear, while windows at front and back are thrown wide open during summer; in winter, you're best off staying inside and making yourself acquainted with the cake. Not just in the winter, for that matter. Cake is good all year round. For that small minority whose gastronomic interests extend beyond sweet treats, they also serve food daily. The Sunday roast is a corker too, featuring three veggie mains as well as carnivorous options.

Sidewinder
65 St James' Street
Brighton
East Sussex
BN2 1JN

‘Lounging’ in the daytime and lively at night, the Sidewinder is a large and bustling watering hole that's firmly entrenched in the nightlife of Brighton, attracting drinkers from across the city as well as plenty of Kemptown locals. It is also surely the only pub in Brighton to boast not one but two large beer gardens, one of which is heated and covered with sofas to create the perfect outdoor drinking space.  Children are welcome until 8pm.
There is an impressively affordable menu which features handmade pizzas alongside the legendary homemade burgers and retro basket meal menu.  On Sunday spectacular roasts are served all day until 8.30pm
